Rachelle Wilson Dressage reports

A quick note to let you know the goings on since the beginning of the year.....

We started the season off with the Australia Day Championships at Treehaven where once again I competed CJP Winchester (William) in the small tour. Again we came home with a small tour championship and also a PB in the PSG test with one judge having scored us over 69%. I was super happy with this test as William is really starting to show, in the competition arena, that he is consolidating and strong with his work at small tour now.

Next event was the Royal Melbourne Summer Show with Bloomfield Furst Whisper (Finn). We only had a 2yr old led colt class to compete in. Finn was super and certainly strutted his stuff for well known QLD Warmblood breeder and judge, Bev Edwards from Jaybee Farm. Finn went on to beat the older stallions and take out the Champion Stallion, being also awarded the Gert Donvig memorial cup! A huge effort for only such a young colt.

William was next out at Series 1 of 3 at the Juravon Championships. Again pulling out some ripper tests in the small tour to win both PSG and Inter 1 easily and bringing home the Small Tour Championship and putting us in a healthy lead for the series. We also scored another PB in the PSG scoring 71.9% by FEI judge and Olympic rider, Mary Hanna.

We have also participated in two clinics with my coach from Denmark, Bjarne Elefsen. Bjarne is very impressed with our progress and the correctness of the horse's training. We are now working on the higher level movements required for big tour, setting a goal to make a start in Inter 2 after Winter. William is proving to show a talent for piaffe and already has 12 tempi changes down pat so things are looking pretty positive.

Lastly, my stables are soon to welcome the new mare I have bought, Diva D. Diva is a 7yo IFS mare by Don Frederico and is in foal to Negro. Negro being the sire of World and Olympic Champion Dressage, Valegro. So I am very excited about the arrival of this little one in September and in putting Diva back into work and into the competition arena again.

Our next big event is Dressage And Jumping With The Stars with series 2 of the Juravon competition the week before as a warm up event.

I have also finally launched my website, Rachelle Wilson Dressage. Please feel free to peruse:

I have attached some pictures for you from the Dressage Festival (taken by Derek O'Leary) and one of Bloomfield Furst Whisper and I at the Royal (taken by Mary McBurnie). Please feel free to use them as long as photographers are credited.

Thank you once again for your on going support and assistance in helping to keep my horses looking and working at their best.

 Kind regards,

Rachelle Wilson

Hi Form Welcomes Julia Battams to our sponsored rider team

We welcome Julia Battams to our sponsored rider team, we are very excited to have her on board. Julia is also the National Performance Director for Dressage & Para-equestrian Dressage for 2013-2016

A clear vision and focus is what is needed for dressage in Australia according to Equestrian Australia’s new National Performance for Dressage, Julia Battams. Julia who successfully led the Para-equestrian Dressage team for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, has been appointed as the National Performance Director for Dressage & Para-equestrian Dressage for 2013-2016.
Having built the Para-equestrian Dressage (PE) program after Equestrian Australia took responsibility for it in 2009, Julia successfully worked to bring about a strong team culture in the PE program which she believes can be developed for dressage.

“We want to focus on fostering a positive team environment across the whole sport from Futures’ squads through to our Elite squads. Identifying young horses and bringing them into the High Performance Program and team environment early on will be important,” said Ms Battams.

“We want to establish a mentoring program across Dressage sport in the country where Dressage riders can offer support to our Para-equestrian riders, and vice versa.

“A systematic approach to training across all we do will be important as we set ambitious targets for Dressage and Para-equestrian both in the short term and long term,” she said.

Out and About

The Hi Form team was out at Werribee in December to attend the Dressage Festival and cheer on our many clients and sponsored riders competing. Congratulations to Julia Stewart, 4th in the GP Kur and Rachelle Wilson 7th in the Inter 1 and then 2nd the next day. Also congratulations to newly sponsored rider Julia Battams who won the Inter 1!  We had a fantastic time there, and were able to meet some new friends and provide diet advice to some lovely horses, either competing over the weekend, or hoping to compete one day. We also had many of our regular clients drop in to the stand and give us amazing feedback!

Out and About

Another weekend, and another horse show – this time we were lucky enough to be part of the West Gippsland Equestrian Expo held at Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre. We had a fabulous weekend catching up with some familiar faces, and getting to know some new ones. It was a busy couple of days filled with on site diets and consultations, Antoinette presenting a well attended talk on ‘Simple Nutrition for Horse Owners’, and crowd favourite, sponsored rider Julia Stewart and her beautiful horse Rafter (Ashton Farm Rivoli) taking part in the Heath Ryan masterclass as the Grand Prix combination. We loved catching some of the amazing demonstrations and educational displays, and of course managed to find a little bit of time to grab some bargains for our own four legged friends while we were there.

Did You Know?

Hi Form have been working hard over the last few months to set up facilities at our new Langwarrin home to allow us to carry out on site consultations for you and your horse. Hi Form can assist in reviewing your horse’s overall diet to ensure it is balanced, and also address any areas of concern such as behavioural difficulties, joint supplementation, and feeding for optimal performance. Too many horses to bring to us? Never mind, we can organise to come to you for on farm inspections. To arrange a consultation with one of our highly qualified staff members, please call Hi Form during office hours and we can discuss your requirements.

Did You Know?

You can host a talk or seminar at your local club or retail outlet carried out by one of our experienced and qualified staff members. Suitable for the complete beginner horse owner, right through to the highly experienced international competitor, we can tailor the talks to cover specific areas of interest. The seminars can be used as a popular and effective fund raiser for pony clubs and adult riding clubs – either held as a stand alone event, or incorporated into the regular rally day. Contact Hi Form to find out more about hosting a information seminar.

Coming in 2014

Hi Form is partnering with some of Australia’s best trainers and industry experts to bring you a complete educational series covering some of the major topics we deal with everyday.  Recognising that there is often not just one point that needs addressing with the horses and horse owners we consult, we are combining forces with other equine professionals to help get to the bottom of a lot of the major issues we see. Stay tuned for more information in the new year!
